Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education

As part of your child’s education at Woodham Academy, we promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education programme.

An important aspect of the PSHE programme is education regarding Relationships and Sex (RSE). RSE Edcuation is delivered in a curriculum day where students take part in lessons about: families, healthy relationships, including friendships and intimate relationships, keeping safe and understanding consent, and managing online risks and behaviour.

Pupils will also have opportunities to ask questions that help prepare them for relationships of all kinds in the modern world. PSHE education is taught throughout the school in every year group and teaching takes place in a safe learning environment and is underpinned by our school ethos and values.

Parents/Carers have the right to withdraw their child from RSE sessions, but we would strongly recommend all parents to support this vital provision.

If you wish to withdraw your child from Relationships and Sex Education sessions please let us know by email to:

If you have any concerns or wish to discuss this further, please contact Miss S Aitken, PSHE & RSE Lead on 01325 300328.
