Ski Trip (Italy)

• Aim/Purpose:  Is to offer the opportunity for students to participate in the ski trip to the Aosta Valley, Italy. Whilst the main purpose of the trip is for students to develop their skiing ability in an alpine setting, the trip aims to provide a much more diverse cultural and educational experience. A walk through the town of Aosta will allow students to see many Roman ruins, particularly the Porta Praetoria which dates to 25BC. The mountain environment allows students to see first-hand geographical features that they learn about in lessons – reusable energy sources such as hydro-electric power stations are in abundance too.  Due to its location, the Aosta Valley is bilingual, and students will be encouraged to speak to locals in French or Italian and develop their spoken language skills.

• Year Groups: The trip is open to students in Years 9 and 10
• Cost: Approximately £1300
• Application Process: The trip tends to be oversubscribed, and applications are made to the school to register an interest. Places will be offered based on behaviour and attendance data.
