Welcome to Woodham

Headteacher’s Message

Welcome to Woodham Academy. I’m proud to be the Headteacher of a school you can trust. Woodham’s journey over the last few years has seen us evolve into a very different place. The entire school community has worked very hard to create a calm, well-behaved, and nurturing environment, where all students can be successful. The entire Woodham Community aim to DEVELOP OUR STUDENTS TO BECOME THE BEST VERSION OF THEMSELVES, by asking them to BE KIND, WORK HARD, NEVER GIVE UP and AIM HIGH.

As a parent myself, I know that choosing a school for your child is very important. Will they be happy? Will they be safe? Will they make good progress? Will they have the chance to take part in exciting activities? I’m clear that this school can confidently answer ‘yes’ to all of these.

At Woodham Academy we truly believe that the best form of pastoral care is to ensure that all students leave with a good set of examinations results, allowing them to progress to the college or training provider of their choice. High expectations underpin everything that we do. We believe in excellent behaviour, good manners, high standards of appearance, punctuality and attendance. This creates an ethos of mutual respect and cooperation where children feel safe and thrive.

Extra-curricular activities are the heartbeat of Woodham Academy. Opportunities in sport, art, leadership, drama, technology, ecology and music are available for all students. Woodham Sports Academy, Performing Arts Academy, Technology Academy, Eco Academy and Leadership Academy provide a wide range of enrichment activities, which children value and enjoy.

In choosing Woodham Academy, you are trusting us to look after, educate and help prepare your children for their lives ahead. We are looking forward to making this happen.

Vision & Expectations

Our vision is to develop our students to become the best version of themselves. Our values: be kind, work hard, aim high and never give up, drive our behaviours and this in turn supports our positive culture of learning through hard work. Our aim is that all stakeholders; staff, students and parents work collaboratively to ensure that we achieve this.

Curriculum

The curriculum at Woodham Academy is designed to allow all students to have a broad range of educational experiences. We aim to promote positive attitudes to learning which reflect the values and skills needed to promote future success.

Ofsted Report

The school was last inspected by Ofsted in April 2023 and we continue to be graded as good. The full report can be found below.
